Brazilian singer Pericles will perform Brazil’s national anthem, and U.S. artist Kandace Lindsey will sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” before Sunday’s Ravens-Cowboys game at Rio’s Maracanã Stadium, the NFL’s first game in the city.
Pericles, a samba and pagode singer, was a founding member of Exaltasamba before beginning a solo career in 2012. One of his projects, “Em Sua Direção,” was nominated for a Latin Grammy in the Best Samba/Pagode Album category. Lindsey sings in Portuguese and English and draws on Brazilian soul, jazz and global rhythms; her latest album is “To Brasil with Love.”
