Tom Pelissero said a Kirk Cousins trade could make sense if another team loses its quarterback to injury. Pelissero expects the 2-0 Raiders to keep him while he plays well; Cousins has 413 passing yards and six total touchdowns through two games.
Pelissero floated a third-round pick as a hypothetical offer, while saying he did not know if the Raiders could get that return. He described Cousins’ contract as essentially one year, with an exclusive window next March for Las Vegas to cut or trade him or potentially pick up his option.
The Raiders drafted Fernando Mendoza first overall in April and view him as their franchise quarterback. They could also keep Cousins as a veteran mentor for Mendoza rather than rush the rookie into the starting role.
