Swami Prem Parivartan, known as Peepal Baba, continues a tree-planting mission begun in childhood; his trust estimates it has planted or preserved 26 million trees and restored vegetation across more than 270,000 hectares in India.
Parivartan planted his first trees on his 11th birthday and later left academia to travel across India encouraging people to grow trees. He says managing land and restoring the soil that sustains trees matter more than counting them.
The trust’s work, long supported by individual and community donations, has in recent years also received support from major corporate donors. Parivartan has more than 1.6 million Instagram followers and a growing network of field volunteers.
