Paulo Brockway, 44, died in Cyprus on Sept. 17, a day after falling ill during an anniversary holiday with fiancée Kerry Debono. Debono told the BBC that doctors in Cyprus said Brockway suffered cardiac arrest after previously undiagnosed pancreatitis.
The GoFundMe page said Brockway had no life insurance. The BBC reported that the couple's vacation insurance paid the hospital fees and the cost of returning his body to Cardiff; Debono's fundraiser is intended to help pay for his funeral.
Debono said Brockway leaves a son and that his mother, sisters and brother were heartbroken by his death.
