Bloomberg reports Oracle issued a force majeure notice for its 2.45-gigawatt Project Jupiter data-center site in New Mexico, seeking to delay payments if it is not online in 2028. Oracle says the project remains on schedule and the notice does not itself signal a delay.
Project Jupiter is tied to the Stargate initiative with OpenAI and SoftBank, and OpenAI is the customer. Bloomberg says the notice went to project developer Blue Owl Capital. Oracle vice president Michael Egbert said such notices are common in developments this large and preserve contractual rights, but do not by themselves alter delivery expectations.
Oracle shares fell 4% in Thursday trading, while Nvidia, AMD and Micron also declined. Oracle has signed numerous deals and taken on substantial debt to fund its AI ambitions. KeyBanc analyst Jackson Ader called its cash position the most tenuous among major hyperscalers and warned issues could spread; he said payment schedules may run ahead of project logistics and revenue generation.
