Oracle shares fell more than 4% Thursday. Bloomberg reported that Oracle notified a Blue Owl Capital unit developing Project Jupiter that it was invoking force majeure and seeking to delay payments if the New Mexico data center does not open as planned in 2028.
Project Jupiter has been the centerpiece of an AI infrastructure build-out unveiled last year by Oracle, OpenAI and SoftBank; its New Mexico campus is designed to handle 2.45 gigawatts of power. The project has faced regulatory setbacks, including denial of a key permit, and public backlash over data centers’ power demands and local impacts. Blue Owl Capital shares fell more than 1% Thursday morning.
