Ohio mother Heather Pippen received consecutive five-year prison terms after pleading guilty to child-endangerment, strangulation and obstructing official business. She was responsible for seven children; those interviewed by investigators reported constant beatings.
Pippen pleaded guilty to two counts of endangering children by corporal punishment, as well as strangulation and obstructing official business. The child shown in a Facebook video said she was hit with a “whooping stick” made from duct-taped Hot Wheels tracks and described a previous incident in which Pippen choked her while Stephanas Golden sat on her and covered her mouth.
Prosecutors urged prison, while Pippen’s attorney sought probation and described her as remorseful, arguing she did not know the full extent of the abuse. Judge E. Gerald Parker said the video showed Pippen was aware of the abuse and repeated her remark to the child, “Oh well, girl. Bye,” during sentencing.
