Florida State coach Mike Norvell expects his 1-2 team to play its best in all three phases Saturday, seeking a response to its loss at Alabama against Central Arkansas (2-2). Kickoff is 3 p.m. at sold-out Doak Campbell Stadium.
Norvell said young players who have shown themselves in practice will get opportunities, though game speed is different. He is looking forward to seeing the backup quarterbacks and said Ashton Daniels continues to progress and has not lost confidence after throwing three interceptions. Freshman defensive back Jordan Crutchfield and senior defensive lineman Rylan Kennedy are expected to be available; wide receiver Tae'Shaun Gelsey is “getting close.”
Norvell said Central Arkansas was his alma mater and that he is honored by the role it played in his career. He has known Bears coach Nathan Brown for 20 years, he said, but added that his focus is on Florida State.
