Reports on Friday said Manchester City were found guilty of 114 of 115 Premier League financial-rule charges, which the club has denied. Fan Noel Gallagher said he was shocked and sad for supporters and players, but maintained City won the 2012 title on the pitch.
Gallagher said others in England might consider the 2012 title tainted, but said he knew what he had seen and felt as a fan. He added that whether some players should have been at the club was not for supporters or players to answer.
Former City chairman David Bernstein said the club would face a very severe penalty if, after its appeal, it were found guilty of all 115 charges; he said a financial penalty alone would not be enough. He urged a swift appeal, saying the case had already taken too long and a process lasting year after year would be disastrous for English football.
