Marquette lost 3-2 to No. 7 Creighton after rallying from 2-0 to tie. Angel Lopez restored the Bluejays’ lead in the 64th minute; VAR then disallowed Gabe Watkins’ apparent equalizer for a handball call against Mateo Stoka. Tomiwa Adewumi was sent off after time expired.
Adewumi’s straight red came after the final whistle; broadcast cameras did not show the incident that preceded it. He will miss Marquette’s next match, Friday at Xavier, scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Central on ESPN+.
Marquette captain Tristan Ronnestad-Stevens’ knee buckled during the game, and he walked off under his own power for further examination. The Golden Eagles are 0-2 in Big East play; both defeats came against teams ranked in the top 10.
