No. 2 Georgia beat Oklahoma 41-13 after Sooners QB John Mateer lost two fumbles and threw an interception in the second quarter. Chris Cole returned one fumble 85 yards for a touchdown, making it 21-0 as Oklahoma threatened to cut the lead.
Cole also recovered Mateer’s other fumble later in the quarter and returned it 23 yards to Oklahoma’s 11; Chauncey Bowens scored two plays later. The interception between the fumbles was made by Georgia safety KJ Bolden, who returned it 29 yards.
Oklahoma committed four turnovers, and Georgia scored 17 points off them. The Sooners converted 2 of 14 third downs and 1 of 3 fourth downs. They have scored 37 points in their past three games after opening the season with a 51-0 shutout of UTEP.
