Nick Taylor's final-hole wedge helps secure Presidents Cup upset

Nick Taylor and Corey Conners upset Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns in a Presidents Cup match Friday at Medinah. Taylor’s near-hole-out wedge on the final hole helped clinch the point, which sparked the Internationals’ afternoon sweep of the U.S. team.

Taylor, 38, was making his Presidents Cup debut. He is 3-0 in PGA Tour playoffs, with wins including a 72-foot eagle putt at the 2023 RBC Canadian Open, two playoff birdies at the 2024 WM Phoenix Open and a 2025 Sony Open victory after a chip-in and two birdies in sudden death.

In the season leading into Medinah, Taylor made 22 of 24 cuts but recorded just one top-10 finish and did not crack the FedEx Cup top 50. He had also not been selected for the 2024 Presidents Cup in Montreal, held in his home country.
