Four New Jersey wrestlers are on the Oct. 23 Real American Freestyle 14 card in Las Vegas: Nick Suriano meets Dylan Ragusin, Jordan Burroughs faces Mikey Caliendo, Sebastian Rivera faces Vito Arujau, and Mekhi Lewis meets Akhmed Gadzhimagomedov.
Suriano, who won NCAA titles at Rutgers and later Michigan, is making his RAF debut after competing at the U.S. Open in April for the first time in two years. Burroughs, 38, will wrestle the final bout of his three-match RAF contract; he won his first two matches 11-0 and 10-0, against MMA star Sean Brady and former world champion Magomed Kurbaniliev.
Rivera, a five-time All-American and Olympic medalist who spent two seasons at Rutgers, won his only prior RAF match 9-5 against Haji Aliyev and is a Columbia assistant coach. Lewis, a four-time All-American and national champion at Virginia Tech, is making his RAF debut. The bouts are scheduled at featherweight for Suriano and Rivera, middleweight for Burroughs, and cruiserweight for Lewis.
