A Washington jury convicted Richard Vanderhoek of killing an acquaintance with a bow.

Vanderhoek, 49, was found guilty of second-degree murder in David Collins’ 2024 death in Vancouver. He told deputies he had been assaulted and claimed self-defense; prosecutors said a fence separated the men when he fired. He is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 30.
