UC Berkeley–Los Angeles Times polling puts Nithya Raman ahead of Mayor Karen Bass, 39% to 28%, with a third of likely voters undecided six weeks before the Nov. 3 election. Among Spencer Pratt’s former supporters, 63% have yet to choose a candidate.
Conducted online Sept. 15–20 among 2,150 likely voters, the survey has an approximately 3-point margin of error. Pratt, who placed third with 26% in June’s primary, cited the results as support for his claim that Raman would beat Bass if voters did not choose him. Raman said the poll reflected campaign momentum. Bass called it an outlier, arguing it got the primary wrong and meant little with 40 days to go; she said the race would be close.
Bass had a 63% unfavorable rating and 28% favorable rating in the poll; Raman’s ratings were 39% unfavorable and 40% favorable. Raman led among voters aged 18–39, while Bass led by 20 points among voters 65 and older.
