Nevada coach Steve Alford will retire after the 2026-27 season; Utah State landed 2027 four-star wing Crew Fotheringham. Two Wyoming players will miss time with hand injuries, while Boise State’s Sire Gaines remains questionable for the game at Western Michigan.
Alford said that after 36 years, he felt it was the right time to step away from the bench. His final regular-season game is scheduled for March 6, 2027, at Lawlor against former team New Mexico. Fotheringham, a 6-foot-8 wing from American Fork, Utah, chose Utah State over Utah, USC, UCLA and Arizona State, among other schools.
Wyoming coach Sawvel said Tyson Shamsid-Deen and Kendall Griffin will miss time with hand injuries. Cornerbacks coach JB Hall said David Leonard and Logan Mackie could see time against Hawaii, alongside Ian Bell and Therman Williams. Boise State coach Spencer Danielson said Gaines had been practicing while the team works through an unspecified issue. Boise State also added Western Illinois to its schedule and will play in Week Zero next year.
