No. 1 Nebraska opened Big Ten play by sweeping Rutgers 25-21, 25-22 and 25-15. Harper Murray led the Huskers with 15 kills, while Andi Jackson added 14. Teraya Sigler was ruled out, so Skyler Pierce started in her place and had four kills.
Nebraska hit .320 overall and held Rutgers to .137. The Huskers needed four set-point opportunities to win the first set and five in the second; their attack dipped to .154 with nine errors in the second. Jackson said after the match that Nebraska was not yet playing to its potential.
Nebraska's next match is at home against Ohio State the following night at 8 p.m. on the Big Ten Network. It is the Huskers' last home match before road matches at Penn State, Maryland and Indiana.
