Under new coach Robin Goodman, Mizzou tennis is emphasizing team drills, energy and competing for every point as it rebuilds around its lone returning player. Four Tigers will open the fall schedule Sept. 25 at the Husker Invitational in Lincoln.
Millie Skelton, Leticia Bazan, Alba Salles Canudas and Evelyn Whiteside will compete at the Sept. 25-27 event with assistant coach Bronte Murgett. The full roster will not be at the opening tournament.
Goodman said the team is farther along than he expected in professionalism, preparation, energy, teamwork and maturity, while stressing that it still has a long way to go. He wants to see whether the habits built in practice carry over to matches when coaches are not nearby.
