Since M*A*S*H’s 1972 debut, Alan Alda and Mike Farrell continued acting on TV, while Jamie Farr now works mainly in theater. Alda has Parkinson’s; Loretta Swit died at 87 in 2025, while Harry Morgan and William Christopher died in 2011 and 2016.
Alda also wrote and directed episodes and later appeared in The West Wing, ER, The Good Fight and The Blacklist. In 2022, he said he felt good and was doing what he could to slow Parkinson’s progression. Farrell also wrote and directed episodes, later appeared in shows including Providence and Desperate Housewives, and served for a time as Screen Actors Guild vice president.
Farr, who played Corporal Maxwell Q. Klinger, later appeared in The Love Boat and That ’70s Show. Swit won two Emmys as Margaret Houlihan and toured a one-woman show about Eleanor Roosevelt in 2013. Morgan died after pneumonia; Christopher died after battling cancer.
