The Detroit Lions signed center Seth McLaughlin from their practice squad to the 53-man roster Wednesday, restoring it to 53 players. Linebacker Joe Bachie, cut earlier this week, was re-signed to the practice squad to fill McLaughlin’s spot.
McLaughlin is expected to serve as Detroit’s primary backup center while Cade Mays remains on injured reserve with a broken wrist. McLaughlin was elevated for Week 2 but did not play; he has not made his NFL debut after going undrafted in 2025.
Earlier in the week, Detroit signed safety Jalen Mills to its practice squad, signed safety Bishop Fitzgerald from the Steelers’ practice squad to its 53-man roster, and placed safety Avonte Maddox on injured reserve.
