Michael Desronvil, the lone holdout in Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial, had “zero doubt,” his lawyer said, rejecting reports that he expressed reasonable doubt. The jury deadlocked after seven days of deliberations, and the judge declared a mistrial.
Clancy admitted killing her three children in January 2023; her defense argued postpartum psychosis meant she was not criminally responsible. Foreperson Roni Carlson later told NBC10 Boston that Desronvil acknowledged reasonable doubt but still refused to agree that Clancy should be found not criminally responsible.
Clancy’s charges remain pending. A status hearing is scheduled for September 29 in Plymouth Superior Court. Her lawyer has renewed a motion for a required finding of not guilty and says he intends to argue that double jeopardy should bar another prosecution. Clancy remains in custody and is receiving psychiatric treatment at Tewksbury State Hospital.
