Lawrence Rothman names Coca-Cola his top long-term dividend pick

Motley Fool

Lawrence Rothman, CFA, identifies Coca-Cola as his top long-term dividend-stock pick, citing 64 consecutive years of dividend increases. The company raised its quarterly payout 4% to 53 cents earlier this year; its yield was 2.4% at the Sept. 22 close.

Coca-Cola generated $6.9 billion in free cash flow in the first half of the year and paid $4.6 billion in dividends. The article says its 2.4% yield was more than twice the S&P 500’s 1% yield.

The article also notes that Coca-Cola was not among the 10 stocks Motley Fool’s Stock Advisor team identified as its best buys. Rothman and The Motley Fool disclosed no position in any of the stocks mentioned.
