A Tennishead commentary proposes trying the Laver Cup’s 10-point deciding tiebreak to shorten matches amid Carlos Alcaraz’s calls for a lighter schedule. Six of the event’s first eight matches reached a deciding tiebreak, and just one lasted more than two hours.
Alcaraz told Sky Sports that players need time to practise and train physically as the game becomes more aggressive and the calendar adds tournaments. He said he wants breaks and urged the ATP and Andrea Gaudenzi to act.
At the Laver Cup, a 10-point match tiebreak replaces the third set. The commentary suggests starting a trial at ATP 250 events and gauging player and fan reactions before considering wider adoption; no tour-wide change has been decided.
