Presidents Cup rookie Jackson Koivun told mentor Justin Thomas he expects to feel nervous on the first tee but believes he will settle once he hits his opening shot. The 21-year-old is set to make his U.S. team debut at Medinah Country Club this week.
Koivun said Thomas has mentored him for about two years and has been helpful this week. He also credited Thomas and Russell Henley with supporting him, adding that he trusts Thomas and can talk to him about golf.
Koivun earned U.S. captain Brandt Snedeker’s pick in his rookie PGA Tour season. He finished tied for 23rd at the U.S. Open and later won the 3M Open.
