Knicks teammates joined Brunson’s ‘SNL’ monologue to roast him

Variety

Jalen Brunson opened “SNL” Season 52 with Knicks teammates Karl-Anthony Towns, Josh Hart, Mikal Bridges and OG Anunoby roasting him; their jokes included Towns’ ejection and Hart’s question about a $113 million pay cut Brunson said he took to re-sign.

Kenan Thompson appeared as ESPN pundit Stephen A. Smith before the teammates, delivering a mock apology for doubting Brunson and his ability to bring the Knicks their first championship since 1973. Towns’ question about fouling out of “SNL” referred to his ejection from Game 5 against the Spurs. Katseye was the musical guest, and the Knicks’ first game of the season is Oct. 20.
