KFF found TrumpRx prices below averages in 11 peer countries for 17 of 32 brand-name drugs, but above them for 15. For those 15, TrumpRx prices averaged 262% higher than peer prices, and KFF said patients are not guaranteed a lower price for any given medicine.
KFF’s comparison covered brand-name drugs sold in the U.S. and peer countries without generic versions. Among drugs cheaper on TrumpRx, discounts ranged from 1% to 63%; the blood-cancer drug Rydapt was listed at $2,909, compared with a $7,877 peer-country average. Enbrel’s U.S. price was $2,725 versus a $641 peer average, while TrumpRx listed Premarin vaginal cream at $237—more than 10 times what peer countries charge, KFF said.
TrumpRx is marketed to U.S. cash-paying consumers and directs users to drugmakers’ websites or pharmacy coupons; it does not process insurance claims, and most people use their health plan’s drug benefits. Separately, CMS launched the GLP-1 Bridge program in July. Qualifying Medicare recipients seeking prescription weight-loss medications pay a $50 monthly copay, with Medicare covering the rest.
