Kentucky beat South Alabama 45-21 on Saturday and could break into the top 25 when new college football rankings are released later Sunday. The Wildcats were No. 27 with 98 votes last week after beating No. 9 Texas A&M; the new rankings had not yet been published.
The teams were tied at halftime, but Kentucky held South Alabama scoreless in the second half and ran for 390 yards. Three Wildcats backs topped 100 rushing yards; Jason Patterson scored three touchdowns, while CJ Baxter and Jovantae Barnes scored once each.
