Officials from the United States, Israel, the UAE, Bahrain and Morocco held their first official Abraham Accords meeting since Hamas’s Oct. 7, 2023, attacks on Israel. Kazakhstan, which has expressed interest in joining, attended for the first time.
The N7 Foundation hosted the New York meeting. Participants discussed next steps to formalize cooperation, according to a person familiar with the meeting. A Kazakhstan embassy official called it a tangible step toward expanding the accords and said the country is interested in technology and transport partnerships.
The accords began in 2020, normalizing Israel’s diplomatic ties with the UAE and Bahrain; Morocco followed. Before the attacks, momentum was building for Saudi Arabia and other Muslim countries to join, but expansion stalled after the attacks and subsequent wars in Gaza, Lebanon and Iran.
