Justin Verlander’s final Tigers start ends with daughter’s on-field hug

In his final MLB start, Justin Verlander allowed two runs in 5⅓ innings for the Tigers against Pittsburgh and plans to retire after the season. His daughter Genevieve ran onto the mound to hug him as he left to a standing ovation.

Verlander returned from an injury for the start; it was his second appearance for Detroit since signing with the Tigers in the offseason. After the hug, he met his wife, Kate, and son, Bellamy, at the dugout.
