Designers Sandy Baisley and Natasia Smith turned Julie’s stark-white dining room into a moody, vintage-inspired space with Benjamin Moore’s Van Courtland Blue on the walls and doors. Mostly secondhand furnishings help make the room cozy, and its layout can host up to six diners.
Baisley and Smith said 75–80% of the space uses reused pieces, including a tole fruit chandelier, dining table, chairs and bar cabinet. A drop-leaf table and extra chairs kept by the bar cabinet make it possible to accommodate six guests.
New additions included floral curtains, a green ceramic lamp and a custom square rug, chosen to balance the room rather than add another long rectangular shape. The designers carefully placed artwork on the textured plaster walls to avoid crumbling the plaster.
