JPMorgan says Meta’s Muse could be most-used consumer AI app since ChatGPT

JPMorgan says Meta’s Muse could become the most-used consumer AI app since ChatGPT after reaching No. 1 on Apple’s U.S. App Store. The bank kept its Overweight rating and $820 target; Benzinga reported about 2.5 million U.S. downloads in its first 12 days.

Benzinga also reported about 557,000 daily active users and 1.43 million iOS downloads in Muse’s first 12 days, versus 1.37 million iOS downloads for ChatGPT at the same point after launch. Muse can send emails, book travel and pay bills, with a free tier and paid plans at $20 and $100 a month. BetaNews reported that prelaunch testing found the app retrieved personal iCloud photos after a request to identify toys in a birthday-party picture. Meta Vice President Vishal Shah said the system would not be error-free.

Meta expects capital spending of $130 billion to $145 billion in 2026. Its second-quarter revenue rose 28% to $60.8 billion, while net income fell 14% to $15.8 billion and operating margin narrowed from 43% to 31%. JPMorgan cut Meta to Neutral in April, then restored its Overweight rating on Sept. 10. Bank of America said meaningful Muse revenue from ads, subscriptions or commissions was unlikely before 2028. Evercore ISI’s Mark Mahaney estimated that a 1% paid conversion among Meta’s 3.6 billion users at $20 a month could generate about $8 billion in revenue.
