Seattle Mariners first baseman Josh Naylor said the team had a tough 2026 and did not achieve its goals; in his first full season with Seattle, he has focused on mentoring younger infielders and connecting with the local community.
Alongside J.P. Crawford, Naylor looks out for rookie Colt Emerson and second baseman Cole Young. The two veterans took Emerson shopping for his first big-league suit; Naylor says he spends time with Young and hopes he wins a Gold Glove. Naylor and his wife have also continued his charity work with Ronald McDonald House, supporting families under stress.
Naylor was one stolen base short of matching last year's 30, crediting Arizona first-base coach Dave McKay and Mariners coach Eric Young Jr. with helping him study pitchers. His brother Bo also helped him get his swing back during the All-Star break; Naylor says he and his brothers review one another's games each offseason.
