John Robinson, 30, was jailed for 17 years after being found guilty of manslaughter and possessing a knife in public for fatally stabbing Mason Jones, 30, outside a flat in Burley in Wharfedale on 1 March. He was cleared of murder.
After an argument, Ramsey kicked Jones and his friend Will Clarke out of the flat; they later returned. Robinson went there after Ramsey called him, carrying a 17.4cm Japanese chef’s knife, which the judge described as highly dangerous.
Robinson claimed at trial that the stabbing was accidental, saying he slipped in his socks while trying to defend Ramsey. Jones’s mother, Virginia Witham, told the court the loss felt “unreal” and that she would miss her son for the rest of her life.
