Former NFL star JJ Watt defended Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams after his tearful, gurney-assisted exit from a game against Minnesota, saying the Grade 1 hamstring strain could have felt much worse in the moment while acknowledging the reaction seemed over the top.
Speaking on the Pat McAfee Show, Watt said the pain of a hamstring pull at full speed is real. He speculated Williams may have feared missing significant time and tried to give his teammates a positive impression before leaving the field.
