Matthews reaggravated a previous knee injury while making a sliding catch against Seattle on Tuesday. He had missed several months with a left knee sprain and was placed on the 60-day injured list in mid-July; the Astros announced his 10-day IL move Wednesday.
Javier was placed on the 15-day injured list earlier Wednesday. The report says Grade 2 groin strains typically take four to eight weeks to heal fully, so a playoff return would require faster-than-usual recovery.
