Players from Jackson State and Southern scuffled at midfield during warmups before the 2026 BoomBox Classic in Jackson, Mississippi; coaches and state troopers separated them after several minutes. Jackson State led 14-3 in the first quarter.
The game was played at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium. Jackson State entered with a 3-0 record, while Southern was 2-2. The annual event also features a pregame Zero Quarter and halftime performances by the schools’ marching bands, the Sonic Boom of the South and the Human Jukebox.
