Iambic Therapeutics filed for a U.S. IPO on Sept. 21 and announced a multi-year research pact with AbbVie that day. Its AI platform will design small-molecule programs in immunology, neuroscience and oncology; NVIDIA and Qatar Investment Authority have backed the startup.

Under the agreement, AbbVie can use Iambic’s Enchant platform to search chemical space and optimize molecules, while retaining clinical development and commercialization. The deal includes a $40 million upfront payment, up to $670 million in development- and sales-based milestones across two targets, and tiered royalties from the mid-single digits to the low teens.

The article says NVIDIA’s potential benefit is indirect: AI drug-discovery companies use accelerated computing, which could increase demand for its hardware and software. It also notes that faster discovery does not eliminate toxicity, efficacy, regulatory or commercial risks, and that AI-discovery claims still need years of clinical evidence.
