Former Vice President Kamala Harris repeatedly invoked “power” in an interview with podcaster Big Boy, linking hope to people fighting for progress and urging listeners to protect their voice and vote amid affordability concerns and the midterms.
Harris said she had recently visited Jackson, Mississippi, and met a mother of four whose family’s weekly budget was $150. She said many people cannot afford to live where they work and spend long stretches driving to jobs that pay for expensive gas.
While discussing ICE, Harris said that “in the last week” two people had been killed. The article says ICE shot and killed two men in July, one in Texas and one in Maine; it separately reports an ICE officer shot and injured Wilber Rafael Garces Perez in Austin on Sept. 20, while Mario David Coronado Juarez died in a Grand Rapids car crash that day after reportedly fleeing an attempted ICE traffic stop.
