Reports say the Giants are considering 49ers quarterback Mac Jones after Jaxson Dart was ruled out for the rest of the regular season with a knee injury. Other names in the mix are Jimmy Garoppolo, Gardner Minshew, J.J. McCarthy, Justin Fields and Brandon Allen.
Mike Garafolo said Jameis Winston’s performance would help shape the Giants’ quarterback decision in the coming days. Winston was 9-for-15 for 77 yards and took two sacks in the first half against the Titans; the report noted that conditions at MetLife were poor.
John Lynch referenced the 49ers’ history at quarterback as a reason he might hold on to Jones: San Francisco needed Jones for half of last season, while Brock Purdy has looked like an MVP candidate through two weeks.
