Gakpo’s stoppage-time goal earns the Netherlands a 1-1 draw with Germany

The Netherlands drew 1-1 with Germany in Amsterdam on Thursday, with Cody Gakpo equalizing in stoppage time after Felix Nmecha put Jürgen Klopp’s side ahead. It was Klopp’s first match as Germany coach and Xavi’s debut with the Netherlands.

Virgil van Dijk’s 13th-minute header was ruled out by VAR before Nmecha’s 33rd-minute rebound gave Germany the lead. Gakpo’s equalizer followed a turnover by Serge Gnabry. Klopp said Germany would use the same roster against Greece in Augsburg on Sunday.
