Former Miss Jamaica Gabrielle Henry sued the Miss Universe Organization and two companies in Delaware on Sept. 21, alleging unsafe stage conditions contributed to her November 2025 fall in Thailand and brain injuries. Her claims remain unproven.
Her suit names JKN Legacy Inc. and Legacy Holding Group USA and brings five claims, including negligence and premises liability. It says Henry was following rehearsed choreography when she fell about five feet through an unmarked, uncovered stage opening containing lighting equipment and concrete; intense lighting allegedly impaired her view. The complaint says she lost consciousness, suffered a traumatic brain injury and was hospitalized from Nov. 19 to Dec. 10, 2025. Henry alleges continuing neurological and cognitive symptoms have kept her from resuming medical residency; she seeks damages for lost earning capacity and career opportunities.
The organization said it had not been formally served and could not comment on claims it had not seen. It said production of the competition, including the venue, stage and on-site safety, was the responsibility of local host and production entities MGI and Miss Universe Thailand. It also said it paid Henry's hospital expenses and later specialized treatment in Jamaica, and offered her a goodwill ambassador role. MGI had previously said Henry missed her blocking; a December 2025 joint statement from Henry's family and the organization rejected reports blaming her.
