Marvin Angelito and Susan Gonzalez were arrested Sept. 10 after investigators linked their Los Angeles apartment to suspected drug trafficking. Authorities say the raid found 93.9 pounds of fentanyl, other drugs, firearms and a small alligator.
Authorities also reported about 15.9 pounds of cocaine and 2.2 pounds of heroin, plus equipment allegedly used to process drugs. They said an AR-15 and ammunition were in a hallway closet, while a gold-plated .50-caliber Desert Eagle and ammunition were on the kitchen counter; a police radio was also seized.
The defendants are accused of possessing fentanyl with intent to distribute; neither entered a plea at their initial court appearance. Judge Karen L. Stevenson ordered Angelito detained, while Gonzalez was released on a $15,000 bond. Their arraignments are set for Oct. 2 and Oct. 9, respectively. The alligator was turned over to U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service agents. If convicted, they could face a maximum sentence of life in federal prison.
