At an August 2026 D23 event, Disney confirmed it intends to repair the 25-foot Yeti animatronic on Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom; it has been kept stationary since 2008 because of a risk of cracking. No refurbishment or closure date has been announced.
Inside the Magic reported that a wider refurbishment and eventual closure are likely. Andrew Boardwine suggested late 2027 or early 2028 as a possible window, but called that an expectation rather than an official date. The article describes the project as difficult because it involves the Yeti and multiple intertwined coaster tracks, and says a full renovation could require a lengthy closure.
Separately, a section of the queue that let single riders fill empty seats and move through faster was removed on Sept. 21. The park is testing a method for sorting odd- and even-sized parties at the ride gates; the article says this change is unrelated to the renovation.
