CVS is recalling select bottles of Clear Eyes Redness Relief Lubricant Eye Drops after supplier Medtech said it could not confirm their sterility. Stop using them and return the bottles to the CVS pharmacy where they were purchased; customers with a receipt can get a refund.
The recall covers select 0.5-fluid-ounce bottles, UPC 678112254156 and CVS SKU 318160. Affected lots are RL25G02, RL25G03 and RL25G04 (July 2027 expiration); RL25H02, RL25H03 and RL25H04 (August); RL25K01, RL25K02, RL25K03 and RL25K04 (September); RL25M01, RL25M02, RL25M03 and RL25M04 (October); and RL25N01, RL25N02 and RL25N04 (November).
Nonsterile drops can introduce bacteria or other harmful substances into the eye, potentially causing infections and other serious complications. CVS' September 17 notice lists the affected lots; the recall was not listed on the FDA's drug-recall announcement page. In July, Prestige Consumer Healthcare recalled certain Clear Eyes Maximum Itchy Eye Relief bottles over similar sterility-assurance concerns; whether the recalls are connected was unclear.
