Video of New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo shaking his head during Monday’s 28-6 loss to the Rams went viral. In a 2022 post, he said sweat drying on his face made the pads inside his helmet stick to his cheeks. He had 12 carries for 36 yards.
Skattebo was back for his second game of the season after a right ankle fracture-dislocation in Week 8 last year required emergency surgery. He rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown in Week 1.
Some viewers speculated about CTE or called for drug testing, while others said the movement was a familiar helmet habit. In his 2022 post, Skattebo also wrote that he would address it if he had a head injury.
