The NFL fined Kyle Juszczyk $14,926 for miming a drink after his Week 2 touchdown against Miami, calling it an “offensive demonstration.” Brock Purdy said the 49ers were confused because the gesture reflects Juszczyk’s “Juice” nickname; Juszczyk has appealed.
According to ESPN, the NFL’s fine letter said the league viewed the gesture as an imitation of chugging beer and deemed it inappropriate under league rules. Juszczyk told NFL Network’s Adam Schefter that he does not drink beer. His appeal hearing is set for Tuesday.
Juszczyk was also fined $20,033 after the 49ers’ Week 1 win over the Rams in Australia. The NFL cited an impermissible use of the helmet on a lead block for Christian McCaffrey, although the play was not flagged during the game.
