Ronald Acuña Jr. sat Wednesday against Cincinnati after bruising his left shin Tuesday. He was reportedly walking without a limp and told the Braves he was ready to play, but they rested him; MLB.com’s Mark Bowman reported he should return tomorrow.
Manager Walt Weiss was also planning Robert Suarez’s first major-league appearance after his activation from a lengthy injured-list stint. Suarez had a 0.56 ERA and 2.44 FIP over 32 innings before going on the IL after his June 19 outing.
Since reportedly widening his stance on Aug. 26, Acuña had a .348 batting average, .408 on-base percentage and .641 slugging percentage.
