CoinDesk says 2026 Bitcoin ETF flows swung from $5.8 billion in year-to-date net outflows at one point in July to $800 million in net inflows. Nearly $4 billion followed an August U.S. bond-purchase announcement, as Bitcoin rose above $80,000 for the first time since January.

The article says 2026 net inflows remain well below the $35.2 billion recorded in 2024 and $21.4 billion in 2025.

The Motley Fool contributor says he remains bullish on Bitcoin as “digital gold,” citing its fixed supply. The article puts Bitcoin’s market capitalization below $2 trillion, compared with an estimated $30 trillion for gold, and says Bitcoin mining is expected to end around 2140 as its supply growth gradually declines.
