Coach Joe Brady said Wednesday that Buffalo Bills defensive tackle T.J. Sanders had an appendectomy the previous night and is currently sidelined; he gave no recovery timetable. The Bills signed veteran Austin Johnson to their practice squad.
The knee injury that kept Sanders inactive for Buffalo’s Week 1 game against Houston lingered into Week 2, when he did not play against Detroit; he was also dealing with an illness. Sanders spent time on injured reserve with a knee injury last season.
Johnson, 32, was with Buffalo in 2024 and logged 353 snaps, including 21 in the AFC Championship Game against the Chiefs. He recorded eight pressures on 187 pass-rush snaps and 10 stops against the run.
