A Russian drone strike on Ukraine’s National Academy of Sciences in central Kyiv killed at least one person and injured six on Monday, the State Emergency Service said. Officials said the wider wave of strikes killed at least seven people and wounded dozens.

A State Emergency Service spokesperson told Euronews the building was directly hit by a jet-powered drone at about 1:30 p.m. local time and said there were no military targets nearby. A second attack over the area was intercepted by Ukrainian air defences as rescue operations continued.

Elsewhere, three people, including an Azerbaijani national, were killed and eight injured in overnight strikes in Kyiv Oblast, authorities said. A drone attack in Dnipro killed three and wounded 12; the strike set fire to an administrative building, and rescuers evacuated people trapped on its upper floors. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said Russian attacks on the capital on Monday injured 19 people, including three children.
